Miniature Paintings
In January 2020, the team received a set of Indian miniature paintings. These almost 200 years miniatures are attributed to the late Mughal period and belong to the Awadh region. True to their style and character, they all had text accompanying the religious themes that were being depicted on wasli paper as well as gold borders with intricate floral details. The major issues with these miniatures were planar deformation and tears on the edges. Our team performed flattening procedures to make the artworks even and flat, and mended tears wherever necessary. For better storage and preventive care to save them for future damage, the team prepared special acid-free archival boxes in the studio. The miniatures were then carefully placed within the boxes sandwiched between layers of acid-free interleaf paper.
